Soldier who killed Armenian guard gets hero's welcome in Azerbaijan
Huseyn Akhundov, an Azerbaijani solder who illegally crossed into Armenia and killed a security guard of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine earlier in April, has received a hero's welcome in Azerbaijan.
Akhundov, who was sentenced to life in prison in Armenia, was released and returned to Azerbaijan as part of a prisoner swap deal on Wednesday. Azerbaijan released 32 Armenian prisoners.
"Huseyn Akhundov, who crossed into Armenia, murdered an Armenian civilian, and recorded a video about "spilling Armenian blood" on his victim's phone is released to a hero's welcome in Azerbaijan," reporter Lindsey Snell wrote on X, posting a short video.
