Director reveals details of incident at school in Armenia's Musaler
Seven students from Franz Werfel Secondary School in the Musaler community of Armenia's Armavir Province were taken to the Vagharshapat Medical Center on Friday morning.
"The children were hospitalized with nausea, weakness and other complaints. They [the symptoms] were caused by poisoning, but not from food," the medical center told Panorama.am.
Naira Svaryan, the Musaler school director, revealed the details of the incident in a conversation with Panorama.am.
"The cause of the incident has already been established, thank God there is nothing serious. One of the children found and brought a pepper gas canister to the school. It’s the first time I’ve heard about or seen such a thing at all. He sprayed the canister at the corridor between the second and third floors, the police revealed. Now we are on our way to the police station with the child and his father," the director said.
The school was evacuated after the students started coughing, she added.
"I guess the fuss was raised because of the evacuation, but I couldn't do otherwise. The police found the canister, now we are heading to the police station. Those affected by the incident are 7th and 8th graders. Now everything is back to normal," Svaryan noted.
