Mikayel Voskanyan hails Armenian film's landing on Oscar shortlist as 'historic moment'
Armenian tar player, composer and vocalist Mikayel Voskanyan has hailed the landing of “Amerikatsi”, Armenia's official entry for the Academy Awards, on the Oscar shortlist as a “truly historical moment for the Armenian film industry.”
“For the first time, a film from Armenia has landed on the “Oscar” shortlist for Best International Feature Film!” he said in a social media post on Saturday.
“This is a truly historical moment for the Armenian film industry and I wholeheartedly congratulate Michael A. Goorjian, producers and the entire crew for this accomplishment. I personally am double excited for this, since I had the honor of being a part of Amerikatsi the Movie entrusted with the additional music in the film.
“By the way, along with music, I myself have made it to the film, too, with a cameo. Hopefully, this is just the beginning. Wishing new successes and wins!” Voskanyan said.
