Opposition MP: Artsakh issue like a 'lump in the throat' for Armenian and Azeri authorities
In order to close Artsakh's page and finally remove the issue from the agenda, Azerbaijan first pushed the term concerning Artsakh out of the negotiations following the 44-day war, says Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem parliamentary faction.
"And after the step-by-step aggression carried out during 2021-2023, Azerbaijan is pushing for the so-called right of the return of Azerbaijanis to Armenia,” he wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
The MP recalled Azerbaijan’s recurrent attacks on Armenia over the past two years and the occupation of about 200 square kilometers of its territory.
“Now the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities are trying to convince the Armenian people that the annulment of the Artsakh president’s decree could lead to fresh Azeri aggression," Abrahamyan pointed out.
"For the last three years, Azerbaijan did whatever it wanted with the Armenian authorities, unleashing a war, violating agreements, lying, "leading them by the nose" and treating them like trash. Only the most uninformed or dumb people would think that if Azerbaijan seeks to grab something away from Armenia again, it will not find a reason to do so.
“The Artsakh issue is like a "lump in the throat" for the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities, and they have resorted to joint threats and blackmail to get rid of it. After getting away with the decree of the Artsakh president, they will do the same in different parts of Armenia in line with Azerbaijan’s territorial and political ambitions," the MP said.
