Two Armenians released after attack on Jerusalem's Armenian Quarter
Two Armenians arrested following Thursday’s attack on Jerusalem’s Armenian Quarter have been set free.
In a statement on Friday, the SavetheArQ Movement said the young men, identified as Paul Djernazian and Bedig Giragossian were released by the court with minor conditions, which the two would fulfill in accordance with the court's demands.
"The court ruled that Armenians, having possessed the land for a continuous period, deserve protection," it added.
Community members of Jerusalem’s Armenian Quarter were attacked by a group of 30 Israeli extremist settlers. The assailants were dressed in black clothes and ski masks and armed with a variety of weapons, Asbarez reported, citing Armenian officials.
Responding to the attack, the shocked Armenian community members fought off the Jewish settlers until police arrived.
