France slams violence against Jerusalem's Armenian community
France strongly condemns the latest acts of violence against the Armenian community in the Old City of Jerusalem, which come after multiple attacks in recent months by violent extremists.
“The Israeli authorities have the responsibility to prevent such acts of violence, as well as any challenge to the status quo,” the French Consulate General in Jerusalem posted on X on Saturday.
“France reiterates its solidarity with the Armenian community in Jerusalem's Old City and will continue to closely follow the situation,” it added.
Several priests, students and indigenous Armenians were seriously injured in a mass attack on the Armenian community in Jerusalem on Thursday.
