Children aged between 10-15 were hospitalized for alcohol poisoning during New Year celebrations in Armenia, Armen Muradyan, head of the Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU), said on Wednesday.
A total of 18 people were taken to a university hospital after suffering carbon monoxide, chemical and alcohol poisoning during the holidays.
“Strikingly, alcohol poisoning was reported among minors aged 10-15,” Muradyan wrote on Facebook, adding one of the poisoning victims is 10 years old, two are 16 years old and three are aged 15 years.
Separately, the YSMU head said five people sought medical care for firework injuries in Heratsi University Hospital.
"Dear compatriots, we'd like to remind you once again that knowledge of safety rules and their strict observance will help reduce the number of emergencies and avoid undesirable and sometimes tragic consequences. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones!" Muradyan added.
