U.S. State Department spox comments on situation in Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem
U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has addressed the concerns of the top authorities in the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem that the Israeli government is using the conflict in Gaza to push out a lot of Armenian Christians from the Armenian Quarter.
“So no specific response to that. But as we have said on a number of occasions, we do not want to see the Government of Israel take any steps that would escalate tensions,” Miller told a press briefing on Wednesday.
Several priests, students and indigenous Armenians were seriously injured in a mass attack on the Armenian community in Jerusalem on December 28.
