Azerbaijan destroyed war memorial in Artsakh
Azerbaijan has destroyed a memorial commemorating fallen soldiers in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), the Artsakh Monument Watch reported.
“The photos provided by Azerbaijan expert Varsik Simonyan clearly show that Azerbaijan has destroyed a cross-stone memorial spring erected in memory of Tigran Abrahamyan and his friends, who died in the Omar Pass, in the area called Ttu Jur in Kashatagh region's Aghanus community,” the watchdog said.
Before the Azerbaijani occupation, the memorial was intact with two cross-stones installed in the center and next to the monument. While the photos taken after its takeover by Azerbaijan show that the cross-stones were destroyed, and the integrity of the monument was damaged and vandalized with paints.
“According to Azerbaijani media reports, trees were massively cut down around the historical spring near the village of Aghanus for the construction of a recreation area,” the Monument Watch said.
