Events marking Sergei Parajanov's 100th anniversary to be held in Yerevan
January 9 marks the 100th birth anniversary of prominent Soviet Armenian filmmaker Sergei Parajanov.
Events marking his jubilee will be held in Yerevan with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports on Tuesday.
The inauguration of a monument to Parajanov and an exhibition will take place at the Yerevan Cinema House at 12am, with screenings of the master's films to be held at its small hall throughout the day.
A concert on Parajanov's motifs featuring soloists from the Gurdjieff and Berekamutyun Ensembles is scheduled for 6pm.
Entrance is free.
Parajanov's anniversary is included in the UNESCO Calendar of anniversaries of eminent personalities.
