Security chief: Armenia has no expectations from CSTO
Armenia has no more expectations from the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan says.
“We do not have any expectations from the CSTO,” he told the Public TV Company in an interview on Monday.
Grigoryan underscored that the security bloc failed to “adequately” respond to Armenia’s request for assistance to defend its sovereign territory against the Azerbaijani attacks in September 2022 and earlier.
"Over the time, we realized that we could not expect anything from the CSTO in this regard. When they make an assessment and protect Armenia's territorial integrity, its sovereignty and borders, we will decide what to do. But until then there is nothing like that," Grigoryan said.
He denied the reports that the organization offered military and technical assistance to Armenia. According to him, there was also no clear answer as to where the CSTO observers were to be deployed.
"In other words, the CSTO has never recognized Armenia's borders and its zone of responsibility in the region, which is a serious problem for Armenia," Grigoryan added.
