Serviceman found dead at combat outpost
An Armenian contract serviceman was found dead of a gunshot wound at a combat outpost early on Tuesday morning.
The Defense Ministry of Armenia identified the soldier as Karen Karapetyan.
A probe into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
The Defense Ministry extended condolences and support to the deceased serviceman’s family and friends.
Citing its sources, the Hraparak daily reported that the victim was an army officer who was fatally wounded by a soldier at a military position near the town of Vardenis. It blamed the 2nd army corps commander, Garegin Poghosyan, for the incident.
