MP: Yerevan ready to discuss border regime simplification with Baku, but not unimpeded passage
Yerevan is ready to discuss issues regarding the simplification of customs and border regime with Baku, but not unimpeded passage, says Sargis Khandanyan, an MP from Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party who leads the parliament foreign relations committee.
"These are red lines that Armenia cannot just allow to be crossed," Khandanyan told RFE/RL’s Armenian Service on Monday.
The MP insisted on respect for the two countries’ jurisdiction, sovereignty, equality and reciprocity to unblock the regional communications.
“And here it is crucial that customs and all other control mechanisms be in place at the borders of the countries, both for security reasons and the passage of goods and citizens,” Khandanyan said.
