Pashinyan stresses need for consistent measures to boost army discipline
Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday visited the Armenian Ministry of Defense to participate in the discussion of the activity report 2023 of the ministry.
Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan and the deputy ministers presented the works done and priorities, also referring to the reforms implemented by the ministry, the Armenian prime minister's office said.
In particular, reference was made to the works carried out in the direction of the furnishing of engineering and fortification structures, the construction of barracks, the acquisition of the latest weapons and military equipment, the strengthening of the combat readiness and discipline of the troops, and the improvement of the quality of combat training of the military personnel.
The steps taken towards the implementation of the programs introduced by the government decision were presented. In this context, a detailed reference was made to the certification process of servicemen that started at the beginning of the year, the statistical data of the beneficiaries of the "Motherland Defender" program, the work carried out within the framework of the mandatory service of 18-27-year-old females based on volunatry application, the process of forming and staffing new special purpose units, social, military-educational, international military cooperation programs carried out during the reporting period, upcoming tasks and a number of other topics related to the defense field.
Reference was made to the problems existing in the Armed Forces, to the activities carried out in the direction of prevention of non-statutory relations. In this context, the prime minister gave specific instructions to those on-charge and emphasized the need for continuous and consistent implementation of measures aimed at increasing discipline.
