Armenia has received no offer from Azerbaijan for direct talks, MP says
Armenia has received no offer to engage in direct bilateral negotiations with Azerbaijan, senior pro-government MP Sargis Khandanyan claims.
“No such proposal with a concrete venue and date of the meeting has been sent to Armenia for the latter to reject it,” Khandanyan, who chairs the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, told reporters on Wednesday.
The MP attached importance to the international formats for Armenia-Azerbaijan talks.
"They convey international reputation to the negotiations, further legitimize them and make the risks more manageable," Khandanyan said, referring to the foreign ministerial talks held in Washington and the EU-hosted summits.
