Ex-deputy chief of Armenian army arrested
Lieutenant General Tiran Khachatryan, the former deputy chief of the Armenian military’s General Staff, has reportedly been arrested.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has neither confirmed nor denied the report.
"We would refrain from disclosing any information given the ongoing investigation,” Investigative Committee spokesman Gor Abrahamyan told Panorama.am on Friday.
Referring to last night's shooting incident at a restaurant in Armenia’s Kotayk Province which reportedly involved Khachatryan, he said a criminal probe had been launched into it and a victim had been identified.
"Criminal proceedings have been initiated under several articles. Investigative and procedural measures are underway to establish the circumstances of the incident and to identify all those involved in it," Abrahamyan said, without elaborating further.
