Parliament speaker: Azeri president repeatedly recognized Armenia's territorial integrity
There is not a single provision in the draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan that concerns only one of the parties, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan told reporters on Monday.
Simonyan dismissed the claims that Azerbaijan persistently refuses to recognize Armenia's territorial integrity.
"The Azerbaijani president has repeatedly made statements on the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia. He has done it also in the presence of the Russian president and during his interviews,” he said.
“It’s true that he has not referred to Armenia’s 29,800 square kilometers, but we expect it to happen as well. Azerbaijan argues that without border demarcation and delimitation they are still refraining from announcing a specific figure. Perhaps they have left it for bargaining or further negotiations,” the speaker added.
