Irish Cinephile ranks 'Aurora's Sunrise' among top 25 films of 2023
Inna Sahakyan’s animated documentary "Aurora's Sunrise" has been ranked among the top 25 movies of 2023 by Irish Cinephile, a film and TV review platform.
A co-production of Armenia, Lithuania and Germany, "Aurora’s Sunrise" tells the extraordinary story of Aurora Mardiganian, who survived the Armenian Genocide as a teenager, and later came to Hollywood where she starred in a 1919 silent film based on her account of the massacre.
"The film is an animated/archive footage hybrid documentary that give us a haunting tale of human history, focusing on the journey of Arshaluys/Aurora Mardiganian’s surviving the Armenian Genocide and how it led her to becoming a silent star in old Hollywood," Irish Cinephile says.
As a part of the AniMela Festival in India, "Aurora's Sunrise" will be premiering on January 20.
