Armenian government gets Lydian Armenia's 12.5% shares in Amulsar
Lydian Armenia on Thursday donated 12.5% of its shares in the Amulsar gold mine to the Armenian government.
Deputy Minister of Economy Ani Ispiryan said accepting the donation did not entail any financial obligations by the government.
On 22 February 2023, the Armenian government, Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Lydian Armenia signed a $250 million memorandum of understanding to relaunch the long-stalled Amulsar gold mining project.
Lydian agreed to cede 12.5% of its stake in the gold mine to the Armenian government.
The company also committed to providing $7 million in annual financial assistance to the affected communities, including Jermuk, Vayk and Sisian.
