MP Abrahamyan: Victory is incomplete for Aliyev
The issue of Armenian prisoners of war and other captives held in Azerbaijan, including Artsakh’s former military and political leaders, remains in the spotlight, says opposition Pativ Unem faction secretary Tigran Abrahamyan.
"The discussions focus on the fate that awaits them and what their imprisonment in Baku gives the Azerbaijani authorities,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.
“Meanwhile, in one of his recent speeches, the Azerbaijani president also spoke about persons whose capture would allow him to completely achieve his goal, referring to [former Armenian presidents] Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan.
"For Aliyev, the victory is incomplete so long as the figures who defeated him and his father are out there, and he realizes that the takeover of Artsakh was rather a present due to various factors, which has caused a certain inferiority complex in him," Abrahamyan noted.
The MP claims the Armenian authorities are doing what Aliyev is trying to accomplish – the suppression of the victorious spirit and extreme pressure on people with a winning mindset.
“Unfortunately, Armenia is facing a situation when the interests of the ruling regime are more consonant with the goals of the Azerbaijani authorities than those of the Armenian people, and this is the main reason for the ongoing losses," the MP stated.
