Violin prodigy Leia Zhu to perform at Mansurian jubilee concert
World-renowned British-Chinese classical violinist Leia Zhu will perform solo at a concert marking Maestro Tigran Mansurian’s 85th birth anniversary on January 27.
She arrived in Yerevan at the invitation of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra.
Zhu, dubbed the “princess of the violin”, told reporters on Friday that it was her first time in Armenia.
“I am really excited to be here. I’ve heard many amazing things about this country. I loved Yerevan and it’s a please to play Mansurian Violin Concerto No. 1,” the violinist said.
“I think it’s a lovely piece of music. I love the passion and the emotional turmoil within the music. So it’s really a pleasure for me and a privilege to be here to celebrate the 85th birthday of Tigran Mansurian,” she added.
Today, Leia Zhu met with the scholarship recipients of the Music for Future Foundation at the Aram Khachaturian House Museum to share her experience with them.
Zhu, who made her debut at the age of four, has already performed in more than 20 countries. In 2019, Leia became the youngest artist to be managed by the London-based global agent HarrisonParrott.
