Armenia's NSS foils drug smuggling attempt
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) has thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large batch of drugs into the country.
In a statement on Tuesday, the agency said around 13 kg of narcotic substances were confiscated near the border with Iran.
A group of Armenian citizens and an Iranian national were involved in the smuggling attempt. The drugs were smuggled to an area near Meghri on the Armenian-Iranian border on 25 January to be sold in Yerevan later.
The criminal group was stopped by the NSS employees in Syunik Province.
The criminals were apprehended pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.
