Ex-MP Aragats Akhoyan released
Former Armenian lawmaker Aragats Akhoyan has been released, his lawyer Gor Vardanyan revealed on Tuesday.
Akhoyan was arrested on charges of public calls for violence on social media on 7 November 2023.
A court in Yerevan delivered a guilty verdict in his case on Monday, sentencing the ex-MP to two years in jail. However, Akhoyan was set free because he had been held in pre-trial custody for three months, Vardanyan told Panorama.am.
He also unveiled plans to appeal the ruling in a higher court.
