Armenia, Azerbaijan could sign peace deal in first half of 2024, Fitch says
Analysts of Fitch Solutions, which is part of the Hearst-owned Fitch Group, believe that Armenia and Azerbaijan may sign a peace treaty in the first half of 2024, Interfax reports.
"We believe that a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia could be concluded as early as in the first half of 2024," they said.
Fitch analysts claim it is highly likely for the peace treaty to include provisions to enhance Azerbaijan's control over the opening of the so-called "Zangezur corridor" leading to Nakhichevan.
In their view, after the military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh in September 2023, Azerbaijan "has strengthened its regional security" in the short and medium term.
