Kazakhstan government resigns
The Kazakh government is resigning, and First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar will serve as acting prime minister, Interfax reports.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the corresponding executive order on Monday.
"Consistent with Article 70 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I order that the resignation of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan be accepted and Roman Sklyar be appointed acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan," says the executive order published on the presidential website on Monday.
Tokayev ordered that government members continue to fulfill their duties until the new government is confirmed.
The order takes effect on the date it is signed.
Alikhan Smailov has been Kazakh prime minister since January 2022.
