Expert: Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict has never been about Artsakh
Vardan Voskanyan, a Yerevan-based expert on Iran, claims the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has never been and will never be about Artsakh, Nakhichevan, border delimitation or any other “local issue”.
“The issue is much bigger and multi-layered. In a broad sense, it’s a life-and-death struggle between Armenia and the artificial entity called Azerbaijan, which started in the early 20th century and has never stopped (even in the Soviet era). It won't end until one of the parties actually ceases to exist,” he wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
“Baku’s barbaric regime has a clear insight into the very essence of this struggle, making it a dominant worldview of the general public through its propaganda machine, while we, unfortunately, are "wandering" in the ideological realm, seemingly questioning this simple truth even at the top level,” the expert stated.
