Armavir prison officer arrested
A security guard of the Armavir Penitentiary has been arrested for abuse of office, the Penitentiary Service of the Armenian Justice Ministry reported.
In a statement on Monday, the agency said that based on operational data, the Armavir prison officials inspected the security officer, identified only by his initials as H.M., on Sunday, at around 9։40am. As a result, three mobile phones were found in his possession.
The man confessed that one of the cell phones belonged to him, while the other two were to be passed on to prisoner M․G․ in exchange for a bribe.
He was taken to Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee.
