Azerbaijan handed over 173 bodies to Armenia after 2023 war
Azerbaijan handed over the bodies of 173 people to Armenia after its attack and takeover of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) on 19-20 September 2023.
The Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Citizens said in a statement on Wednesday that after the 44-day Karabakh war in 2020, 1,713 bodies were discovered and handed over to Armenia.
“After the clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conditional border on September 12-14, 2022, 157 bodies were found, and following the anti-terrorist operation by the Azerbaijani armed forces in Karabakh on September 19-20, 2023, 173 bodies of military personnel were recovered and handed over to Armenia," the commission said.
