Medieval rock-cut tomb found in Armenia's Ohanavan
A medieval rock-cut tomb has been discovered in the Ohanavan community of Armenia's Aragatsotn Province, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reports.
A local resident uncovered the monument during earthworks on his land plot.
The incident was recorded by the Aragatsotn regional service of the Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reserves SNCO and the work was stopped.
The necessity of handing over the archaeological objects to the state and the need for urgent excavations were discussed. The newly discovered monument will be certified in the near future.
Specialists of the culture ministry, the Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reserves and the Scientific Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage toured the site of the medieval tomb and a number of other monuments.
