Political analyst slams Armenian authorities for campaign against Ruben Vardanyan
Political analyst Suren Surenyants, the leader of the Democratic Alternative Party, has reacted to a $303.6 million deal to buy Armenia’s Ameriabank partly owned by businessman and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan through a trust fund.
Vardanyan, a former Artsakh state minister, is currently illegally detained in Azerbaijan.
"$303.6 million for Ameriabank: the buyer is the Bank of Georgia. It seems to be a long-planned economic transaction, but pro-government propagandists are using even this opportunity to carry out propaganda against Ruben Vardanyan,” Surenyants wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“It’s a total disgrace. If you had used a small part of the efforts spent on "black PR" towards the release of Armenian figures held in Baku, they would be in Yerevan now. But Aliyev and Pashinyan are allies when it comes to holding Artsakh leaders in Baku prisons,” the analyst added.
