Artak Zakaryan: Armenian people lived proudly and safely for 30 years
Senior RPA member Artak Zakaryan, a former Armenian deputy defense minister, has posted two photos on Facebook showing crowded Liberty Square and Republic Square in Yerevan on the 36th anniversary of the Artsakh national liberation movement marked on February 20.
"The Artsakh movement, which began on 20 February 1988, laid the foundation for the independence of the Republic of Armenia, the foundation of free Artsakh, the brilliant victories of the liberation struggle, the consolidation of the Armenian people and the safe development of the two Armenian republics. For 30 years, the Armenian people have lived proudly, freely and safely in a sovereign country,” he wrote.
“The usurpation of power that began in April 2018 through the use of a part of the Armenian people laid the groundwork for a split in Armenian society, the conspiratorial surrender of Artsakh, the shattering of the victories achieved through self-sacrifices of heroes, as well as the undermining of Armenia’s security, statehood and sovereignty.
“No one has the right to forget the first and forgive the second,” Zakaryan said.
