Moscow street named after Soviet spying legend Gevork Vartanian
A street in Moscow has been named after legendary Soviet Armenian spy Gevork Vartanian, who helped foil a Nazi plot to kill Allied leaders in Tehran during World War II, the head of the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage, Alexei Emelyanov, reported.
Vartanian Street is close to School No. 2070, which has been named after the hero since 2020. The educational institution has a museum dedicated to Gevork Vartanian and his wife Gohar, who was also a spy.
February 17 marked Gevork Vartanian's 100th birthday anniversary.
