Fallen soldier's father to undergo heart surgery today
The health condition of Garik Galeyan, whose soldier son Mkhitar was killed in the 2020 Artsakh war, has stabilized and he is preparing for heart surgery, his wife has revealed.
The man was taken to Yerevan's Astghik Medical Center for a suspected heart attack on February 23.
"I am currently on my way to the hospital. Garik will be transferred to the operating room in a short while to undergo stenting," his wife Astgh told Panorama.am.
Galeyan is charged with “hooliganism” and “use of drugs”. His condition deteriorated sharply after a Yerevan court extended his house arrest for two more months, thus depriving the man of the opportunity to visit his son's grave in the Yerablur Military Pantheon.
"When we returned home after the last court hearing, we did not even want to talk, we were depressed, not because of the extension of Garik’s house arrest, which was basically unlawful, but because of the ban to visit Yerablur,” the woman said.
“When after the hospitalization doctors asked him why he had not sought medical care earlier, Garik answered: "I am not fighting for my life, my son is gone and I am ashamed to come to the hospital and ask doctors to save me.” This is what you have brought a man to, you scoundrels! All members of the ruling Civil Contract party and the judicial system serving them obediently will be held to account. Your rule is not eternal," Astgh said in a social media post after her husband was hospitalized.
