Minister: One child wounded in Artsakh fuel depot blast continues treatment abroad

Most of the Armenians, who were wounded in a huge explosion at a fuel depot in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in September 2023 and later moved abroad for treatment, have returned to Armenia, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan says.

The blast that occurred near Stepanakert on 25 September killed 218 people and wounded 120 others. 21 people remain missing after the accident, while the bodies of three victims have not yet been identified.

Avanesyan told reporters on Tuesday that some 22 patients had travelled abroad for medical care. They are undergoing outpatient rehabilitation in Armenia at this point.

“There is one child who is currently in the U.S. for treatment and will return to Armenia upon its completion,” the minister said.
