Parliament speaker rejects 'unacceptable' snap elections in Armenia
Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan claims snap elections in Armenia are "unacceptable".
“The elections would amount to a runaway from responsibility,” he told reporters on Tuesday in response to a question whether the authorities are going to call extraordinary parliamentary elections.
Simonyan stresses that Armenian citizens have already made their choice, while the issue of holding new elections has not been discussed.
"We have taken responsibility and will carry it on to the end. We have a mission to bring peace to Armenia and the region. After that, the time of elections will come, we will present our vision, the opposition will present theirs, and the people of Armenia will again vote in free and fair elections,” the speaker said.
