MTS Armenia donates 20% of its shares to Armenian government
The Armenian government formally accepted the donation of MTS Armenia’s shares on Thursday.
At a weekly cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recalled that Fedilco Group Limited, a Cyprus-registered company which owns 100% shares of the telecom operator, decided to cede 20% of its stake in Viva-MTS to the Armenian government on February 16, citing its “strategic importance” to the country.
"The Armenian government accepts the donation with gratitude, and I must state with joy that in this strategic sphere, the people of Armenia, represented by the government, have the opportunity to be involved in a strategically important company. This is not the only format of the people's participation in companies," the premier said.
