Opposition MP deplores government's military certification plan
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has criticized the government’s poor certification scheme in the Armenian military.
He reiterates that half of the participants fail to pass an exam to get a salary increase and end up "at a broken trough".
“Why do graduates of military educational institutions have to pass exams to get a high salary? If a person studies for four years, takes an exam every year, let alone the final exams, why should he take the same exam again to get a pay rise?” Abrahamyan, the secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
He claims army officers should be paid high salaries for three years after graduation before taking fresh exams.
“There are specific army units and officials who are responsible for professional, fire and physical training of troops. Now the government performs its duties improperly and then tries to put the blame on individual servicemen,” the MP added.
