Azerbaijani vandals target Stepanakert cathedral
Another act of vandalism has been reported in Stepanakert, the capital of Azerbaijani-occupied Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
Azeri vandals have now targeted the Holy Mother of God Cathedral in Stepanakert, Cultural Ombudsman of Hayk Hovik Avanesov warns.
The church was solemnly consecrated by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on 7 April 2019.
Article 4 of the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict prohibits any form of theft, pillage or misappropriation of, and any acts of vandalism directed against, cultural property.
