U.S. State Department reacts to Lavrov's remarks on Armenia
U.S. Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller has reacted to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statements on Armenia.
Speaking to reporters after attending the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Lavrov accused Armenia of going towards the West and then promised response to the country.
"So I’m not going to respond directly to that question, although it’s the kind of – it’s the kind of rhetoric that we have seen the Russian Government make that is destabilizing to the region, and it’s why you’ve seen so many of Russia’s neighbors be concerned about threatening rhetoric and threatening actions that the Russian Government has shown over and over it is willing to take against its neighbors. And I’ll leave it at that," Miller told a press briefing on Monday.
