Opposition MP reacts to Armenian security chief’s accusations against Russia
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has called attention to the Armenian security chief’s latest “remarkable” statements regarding strained Armenian-Russian relations and the situation in the Moscow-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
In a televised interview last week, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan said: “A Russian official has told us that they refrain from supplying weapons to Armenia to prevent its tough stance.”
“Armen Grigoryan refused to identify the Russian official who made such comments, but Russia has not clarified them a few days after his interview,” Abrahamyan, the secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
“Notably, no such excuse was listed among problems with arms deliveries from Russia previously. A senior Armenian official made grave accusations which Russia did not respond to. Given that Russian officials directly and indirectly respond to the statements from Armenia, including those by the Security Council secretary, these unclarified accusations have given rise to a rather disturbing situation,” the MP added.
