Medieval censer with remains of incense found in Armenia's Ohanavan
A censer with remains of incense has been uncovered during excavations of a medieval rock-cut tomb in Ohanavan, a community in Armenia's Aragatsotn Province.
It was among 56 artifacts discovered in the area, the Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reserves SNCO reported on Thursday.
The censer, which held remains of 5th-century incense, was cleaned by specialists at the Laboratory of Restoration of Museum Objects. The incense remains are slated for further research.
"The censer was covered with dust and it’s good that experts worked with the object. While cleaning it they found incense dating back to the 5th century, which has an excellent aroma," archaeologist Ashot Piliposyan highlighted.
