Child dies of chickenpox in Yerevan
A nine-year-old child has died of chickenpox in Yerevan, a former health official has revealed.
"According to reliable sources, Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center under the Yerevan Municipality today registered the biological death of a patient born in 2015, who was hospitalized with chickenpox,” Tsaghik Vardanyan, the former head of the State Health Agency, wrote on Facebook on Monday.
She highlights that the overall chickenpox death rate is 1 per 60,000 cases.
"In June 2020, Armenia’s health minister stated that "the chickenpox prevalence in Armenia is within the normal range.” The death confirms the claims that the Armenian government’s personnel policy is disastrous, to put it mildly. You have mixed the primary with the secondary, the programs you have presented are untimely and only cause headache for the population. You believe that chickenpox is a manageable viral infection, but a nine-year-old child dies of the disease in the country,” Vardanyan stressed.
