Deputy education minister defends plans to relocate Yerevan Conservatory
Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Daniel Danielyan has defended the government’s plans to move Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory (YSC) to the Academic City set to house all state-run universities of Armenia.
In an interview to Panorama.am on Tuesday, he rejected the reports about the possible closure of Armenia's sole higher musical education institution.
“Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory is not closing, that’s it,” the official said.
Asked whether it is acceptable to him, as a Conservatory graduate, to move the university to the Academy City, Danielyan noted: "The only acceptable option for us is to improve everything, including teaching, conditions for the academic staff and students. This is the only and the best option. If it gets better, it is good.”
"I am open to any ideas if they can help ensure the improvement of the system,” the deputy minister added.
