Pashinyan says Armenia could withdraw international suits against Azerbaijan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says Armenia could withdraw lawsuits against Azerbaijan in international courts.
“The issue has been discussed during negotiations,” he told a news conference on Tuesday, responding to a question whether the withdrawal of international suits against Azerbaijan is on the agenda.
According to him, it should be considered after all provisions of the peace treaty are agreed upon and the parties only have to sign it.
“It’s logical, because if the parties sign a peace treaty, why should they continue legal battles against each other? But if there is no peace agreement, these lawsuits are an important tool for Armenia to promote its position," Pashinyan explained.
"When we come to the signing of the peace deal, I do not exclude and even consider it logical to mutually – it cannot be only about Armenia – take such a step," he said.
