Russia to clarify situation with Armenia's CSTO membership
Moscow will continue contacts with Yerevan to clarify the situation regarding its further membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.
He was asked to comment on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that Yerevan will leave the CSTO if the Russian-led security bloc fails to fulfill its commitments and recognize its zone of responsibility.
"Certainly, we have heard these statements. Obviously, there is a lot of work to be done now. We need contacts both within the CSTO and at the bilateral level with our Armenian partners. We will seek clarification over the statements made by Mr. Prime Minister [of Armenia]," the Kremlin spokesman said.
