Goris mayor denies affiliation with any party
Arush Arushanyan, the head of the Goris community in Armenia’s Syunik Province, has denied affiliation with any political party.
"I am a Christian Armenian, my party is my homeland, my mission is to punish the long-time enemy of the Armenian nation, the imperative for me is the defense of the homeland,” he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
“I’m not a member of any party and have not applied to join any political force. The circulating reports do not correspond to reality," Arushanyan stated.
Earlier on Thursday, the Zhoghovurd daily reported that Arushanyan had applied to join Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party amid strong government pressure.
