Opposition MP lambasts Armenian FM for Artsakh remarks
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan hit out at Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan for his “cheap” comments on Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
Speaking at parliamentary debates on Friday, Mirzoyan claimed the Armenian government did its best to prevent the exodus of Armenians from Artsakh, whereas its political elite made a change of power in Nagorno-Karabakh and “surrendered” it to Azerbaijan.
“Just look at his cheap comments, which are typical for the infamous conduct of the current Armenian leadership,” Abrahamyan, the secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
The deputy accused the Armenian authorities of leaving Artsakh alone in the face of Azerbaijan’s months-long blockade and attack in 2023.
“Those who once shouted out that "Artsakh is Armenia, period!", who were defeated in the war, signed a capitulation act, left Artsakh alone in the face of the Azeri blockade and attack, and who finally recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, now blame the Artsakh people for their forced displacement,” Abrahamyan said.
“People were forcibly displaced from Artsakh because of the heavy 10-month blockade, incessant attacks and treacherous behavior of the Armenian authorities towards the Artsakh Armenians," he stated.
