
NATO encourages Armenia and Azerbaijan to 'seize the opportunity' for enduring peace
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan as part of his regional tour on Sunday.
"Good to meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku. Azerbaijan is a long-standing NATO partner and I look forward to further strengthening the partnership," he wrote on X after the meeting.
"Peace and stability in the South Caucasus matters to security more broadly; I encourage Azerbaijan and Armenia to seize the opportunity for enduring peace," Stoltenberg added.
Today, the NATO chief will travel to Tbilisi for meetings with Georgia’s leaders. On Tuesday, Stoltenberg will meet with Armenia’s leadership in Yerevan.
