Opposition MP: Armenian authorities share Azeri stance on repatriation of Artsakh Armenians
Opposition Pativ Unem faction MP Tigran Abrahamyan has criticized the Armenian leadership for failure to push for the repatriation of the forcibly displaced Artsakh people.
“Statements from world capitals raise the Artsakh Armenians’ right to safe return to their homes, whereas the Armenian authorities not only carefully avoid the topic, but also often react to it aggressively,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.
“Moscow, Brussels and Washington have essentially talked about it, let alone that the issue remains high on the Artsakh people’s agenda. The Armenian authorities try to keep the issue in the sphere of social conflicts, making the Artsakh Armenians focus huge efforts and energy on them.
“What is the problem that all the main regional actors consider the repatriation of the Artsakh people acceptable, while the attitude of the Armenian authorities, including on this matter, coincides with the views of Turkey and Azerbaijan? I think everything has been clear for a long time,” the MP said.
Abrahamyan called for strong international guarantees and other mechanisms to ensure the safe repatriation of the Artsakh Armenians.
