Opposition concerned over 'unlawful' Armenian-Azeri border delimitation
The partial delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border without a final agreement and compliance with the principle of reciprocity, is completely in Baku’s interests, MP Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the opposition Hayastan faction, said on Thursday.
Speaking at a parliamentary briefing, he warned that the partial delimitation, especially from Tavush Province, would lead to a decrease in the capabilities of the most combat-ready frontline in Armenia, giving rise to additional threats.
"Azerbaijan’s control over this strategically important road will multiply the threats to Armenia's security,” the opposition leader insisted.
“The reason for concern is the lack of preconditions for the implementation of the border delimitation and demarcation process, these procedures are violated because no agreement has been reached with Azerbaijan," Ohanyan said.
According to him, the border delimitation process is unlawful and amounts to "a crime, a traitorous-like behavior towards the Armenian people."
"All those involved in this process must be held accountable," he added.
